In this xtended essay (Dissertation in our M.Arch is not a design investigation that work can be found in my thesis), I investigated the use of concrete in modern Irish architecture. I attempt to track how international developments reached our shores and furthermore how these concrete buildings shaped our nation's growth. The Berkeley Library by ABK is taken as a case study that highlights the overwhelming public disapproval of concrete buildings and, by association,  the modern architectural movement in Ireland.
